A
Message from Pastor Jan Kopf, Children’s Ministries
In Isaiah 28:9,
the prophet asks & answers the questions, "Whom
shall He teach knowledge? And whom shall He make to understand doctrine?
Them that are weaned from the milk & drawn
from the breasts."

Children
do not have to "grow up" and become adults
before they can learn, understand & grow in the things
of God. To the contrary, Jesus said to the adults that
they needed to become like children. Children are our
younger brothers and sisters in Christ. Though they may
presently be small in stature and more immature in mental
development, they will stand as our equals in the world
to come. God has no grandchildren, only sons and daughters.
Our children are not miniature Brides of Christ; they
do not have a baby or junior Holy Spirit. They need to
be taught now who they are in Jesus, how precious they
are to Him, and how much He desires them to seek Him.
God's word warns us
that if children
are not taught, future generations
will |
cease to follow His Word. (Psalms
78:1-8) Let's
reach towards our future: and "prepare today's
children to live holy for Him now so that we won't have
to "repair" them tomorrow as adults. We cannot
be merely content with raising "good" children.
We must seek to raise Godly, anointed ones that know their
God intimately. |
Children’s Missions – BGMC (Boys & Girls
Missionary Crusade)
The first Sunday of every month is "BGMC Sunday" in
the Kidz Zone and the Preschool classes.
Children bring in their Buddy Barrel with their month’s
offering on this Sunday. Offerings allow our missionaries to
get supplies they need in order to spread the gospel and reach
children around the world. As well as the offerings, all cash
proceeds from sales at The Corner Store go
to BGMC.
Boys and girls learn about a different country, missionary or
receive mission related information on BGMC Sunday. They are
taught through the use of puppets, skits, real life stories,
and games. BGMC teaches kids about the needs around the world.
(Among the Assemblies of God Missionaries, 95% were called to
be missionaries while they were between the ages of 9 and 13)
Corner Store
The Corner Store is a ministry offering
quality items and snacks at reasonable prices. It is located
in the east hallway
outside
the chapel in Room 214 and is open Sunday mornings and Wednesday
evenings during designated free time. A variety of treats,
toys and games are available for purchase with “ Quints” or
cash. Children may even find a gift for their parents in
the store… CHECK IT OUT!
QUINTS... What
are they? How do my kids get them? What can they do with
them?
Quints are a form of reward and "currency" for Children's
Ministries and resemble a large “wooden nickel.” Quints
are earned by children for activities like learning memory verses,
bringing their Bible, or bringing a friend with them. They have
an approximate value of 20 cents and may be used to play games
prior to Children's Church, buy drinks in Higher Grounds Coffee
Shop or to purchase items from the Corner Store (no change is
given for purchases made with Quints)
Many children choose to save up their Quints to make a large
purchase in the Corner Store. After saving 100 Quints, they may
be exchanged for a certificate worth 110 Quints.
Cash Proceeds from the Corner Store go to BGMC
Ministry Opportunities
We have exciting and diverse opportunities for you to serve.
If you love children and Jesus, please consider joining a great
team and contact Pastor Jan for further details.
We have many ministry opportunities in the Early Childhood Ministry
during Sunday services and Wednesday Evenings. Your responsibilities
would include following all established Guidelines and providing
a safe, happy, loving environment for both the children and their
parents.
We provide the curriculum and the children & all you provide
the smiles & lots of hugs
It takes a large team to provide the Sunday
Elementary programs. You can help by being a team captain in
Children’s Church– doing
anything from registration to participating in skits. In Sunday
school our teachers fulfill an important position as role models
and leaders sharing God’s Word using provided curriculum
which is accompanied by bulletin board and other visual & audio
resources.
The children’s special events & outreaches also need
ministry volunteers - if you can assist with an event please
don’t hesitate to call – you will be enriched while
ministering Jesus’ love to our most precious children.
